In March of this year Presidential Nominee John McCain spoke with the Jerusalem Post in an interview that the British newspaper the Telegraph reprinted. In this interview McCain openly discussed his views on the Hamas and Hizbollah. He termed them not only a threat for Israel and the Middle East, but a serious threat for the United States and the rest of the world.McCain was very open to the idea of retaliation by the Israeli people on the Hamas, saying in the interview about what would happen if someone attacked the U.S., “I can tell you that I believe that if rocket attacks came across the border of the United States of America, that the American people would probably demand pretty vigorous actions in response. I think I know my constituency in the state of Arizona, and they would be pretty exercised if rockets came across our southern border.”
What was most surprising about McCain’s Middle East ideas and practices is that he believes Iran is one of if not the most dangerous threats in the world. Despite the UN not finding evidence supporting the idea that Iran was pursuing nuclear weapons, McCain believes otherwise and is talking openly about the fact that there needs something to be done to stop these nuclear weapons from happening. Although McCain may be right about Iran harboring terrorists and pursuing nuclear activity, until the facts settle, it is wise to take heed from the previous republican administration and wait until solid evidence comes forth rather than rush forward in a somewhat irresponsible way.
