Flickr, Tags, and the 2.0 World

With the use of all these new technology platforms, users are now able to create more of their own content. As well as being able to create content, users can also influence the ways in which other websites work and are organized. Almost all websites offer some way in which you can personalize the content to fit your specific needs. This type of 2.0 technology is great because it provides so much freedom and flexibility for those who are using the net.
But do the majority of people really take advantage or even use these technologies? Do we think that they are necessary and helping everyone out or are just creating useless forums? Can you think of any friends you know who use flickr or tag? I think some of these technologies are helpful but the majority aren’t used very often. Blogging and sites such as myspace provide enough freedom for people to express what they want. I think that sometimes it’s important to let the “experts” choose which stories should be on the front pages of the news, rather than the audience. Has our world become too reliant on the audience?
