For our final project, we will be discussing how graduating students are being affected by the current financial crisis. The uncertain economy is definitely impacting students and their plans. Cnn.com states that with the recent waves of lay offs, people all around the country are affected and deciding on what to do next, and more and more adults are considering retuning to school. According to the Graduate Management Admission Council, the number of GMAT tests taken by hopeful business school students has increased 15% since 2006. Despite this soar in applications, the state of the economy and tight credit situation, it is becoming more diffiuclt for students to borrow money. As we begin interviewing and asking students how they are being affected it will be very important to ask a variety of different questions so that our final project can encompass numerous different angles depending on the different views of the students.
So far, the students I have talked to are still very unsure of their final plans. Many are looking for jobs, others are applying to various graduate schools, and some are planning on taking some time off to travel.
This financial crisis is one of the most significant events that will occur in our lifetime. We will be asking what is next for students and how they personnally have been impacted and talking to the career center as well as the office of admissions to see how DU will be affected as well.
